Chicago’s history is fascinating. It’s hard to imagine that although the metro-Chicago area today has a population of nearly ten million, less than 190 years ago, the population was under 200 inhabitants. In fact, for a few years, up until 1816, the population was just one couple.

This presentation not only details the development of Chicago from its earliest beginnings, it also provides numerous photos, many predating the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. This is complimented by numerous photos showing the reconstruction and redevelopment of what has come to be called the “Windy City.” Did you know that it’s named the Windy City, not because of the breezes off of the lake, but because of the “Windy” politicians?
